Our Story
In the heart of Bogota's slums, a theatre play unfolded with such compelling effect that it revealed the profound potential of storytelling to unveil risks of sexual abuse among children. Witnessing this impactful moment, Juan Diego was inspired by a vision: to harness technology to extend protective measures into every home, aiming to halt the devastating effects of sexual abuse that plague 400 million children globally each year. This revelation marked the inception of tinyGuardian.
During the MIT Executive MBA's Idea Week in April 2023, this initial spark evolved into a fully ignited concept. Juan Diego, moved by the personal stories of his classmates, many of whom had been deeply affected by emotional threats and abuse, realized the extensive impact this initiative could have.
Throughout the year, four remarkable individuals—Aleks, Mark, Flavius, and Juan Diego—were united by this shared vision. Together, they set out on a journey of ideation and extensive market research, driven by a collective ambition to develop algorithms and software capable of transforming the lives of those haunted by predators. Their unwavering commitment secured tinyGuardian a spot in the Martin Trust Center's rigorous 3-week startup accelerator, Fuse MIT. There, their idea was honed into a viable plan with the dual potential to offer widespread aid to children and generate the cash flow necessary for exceptional growth.
By February 2024, tinyGuardian LLC was formally established, turning a new leaf in its mission. What began as a spark of inspiration in a modest theatre has now emerged as an MIT-endorsed startup, dedicated to safeguarding children across the globe. tinyGuardian epitomizes the transformative power of storytelling, the dynamism of teamwork, and the firm belief in technology's role as a guardian for the vulnerable.
